Racing up Watkins Glen.

Not the race circuit at Watkins Glen, I know I should wash my mouth out but there is another attraction in Watkins Glen, the gorge, a winding treck along the path of the gorge with 800 steps all uphill on the way out, including 180 at the end called Jacobs ladder, the last version of Jacobs ladder I climbed was at Cheddar gorge, maybe they reserve the name for especially steep staircases!.
Coming down was actually worse on the legs and back and more worrying with the slippery slate paths but rewarding to be able to say I have done it.

Through the looking glass

One of the advantages of working 4 days one week and 2 days the other is that every other school holiday has an extra 3 days tacked on .... like this one.
The terrorist attack in Manchester 2 days before made me think hard about flying from Manchester especially as Iempathise with that age group because I teach them. We can't let them win, I am not going to be intimidated by the spreaders  of doom and destruction who try to make us afraid.
A couple of days at Lisa's house relaxing and a long trudge north in a car with a whine later lead to Corning in Northern New York state home of...........Corning glass curiously enough.

Glassfest
Is a street festival of crafts and state fair food with glassmaking demonstrations and a visit to the Corning Museum of Glass. If you haven't watched the videos on YouTube...you should,it's fascinating and the chance to see it live and glassfest and half term was too good to pass up.
